Jamie Mulfinger

Biography


Jamie Mulfinger received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Education degrees from Bob Jones University in South Carolina and a Master of Arts in Flute Performance from San Jose State University in San Jose, CA.

She has been the recipient of numerous awards and competitions including the San Luis Obispo Monday Club Competition, Betty Evans Memorial Scholarship, San Luis Obispo Youth Chamber Festival, Bob Jones University Commencement Competition, San Jose State University Concerto Competition, and the San Jose Music Study Club Award. Most recently she was a semi-finalist in the 2005 William C. Byrd International Competition. She has performed live for KCBX Radio, 90.1 and KVEC Radio, 920AM, and gave two solo performances of Vivaldi's Concerto in D with the San Luis Obispo Early Music Consort.

Former flute teachers include Alice McGonigal, principal flutist of the San Luis Obispo Symphony, Karen Kuehmann at Bob Jones University, and French flutist Isabelle Chapuis Starr at San Jose State University. In addition, Jamie has performed for renowned flutists Julius Baker, Paula Robison, James Walker, William Bennet, Vierri Bottizini, Robert Stallman, and Bonita Boyd.

Jamie currently plays principal flute for Redwood Symphony and Nova Vista Symphony. Before relocating to the Bay Area she was a member of the San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra and San Luis Obispo Early Music Consort.

In addition to performing and recording on the flute, Jamie performs piano for weddings, choir, and soloists throughout the year. Her former piano teachers are Barbara Hoff, pianist of the San Luis Obispo Symphony, Dr. Christopher Dillon, David Lehman, and Dr. Dan Steenson.

Jamie's favorite activities include swimming, tennis, and spending time with her husband and son.
